Kernave by Daylight

Well I woke up for food. I was starving when I had arrived, but there was going to be no food until ten am, so I woke up at ten thirty and slowly walked to the food. I found Floh pretty easily, and met a few people while eating breakfast! There was going to be a trip into the town that day after breakfast and I considered going. I decided in my mind that I could only do it if I had a ride because I was awake, but tired.

Thomas was feeling the same way so Falc, Kristina, Floh, and I got a ride into town. Unfortunately I got dizzy in the car and had to hang out there for a while before getting up and going to meet everyone. Floh waited with me, which was really nice :)

We walked through the city (which looked a LOT different in the day when I wasn't lost!) and out to this beautiful area with these big mound hills overlooking a river. I really wish I had brought my camera to this place, because it reminded me of Ireland a lot. It was an old capital of Lithuania. I was very pleased I made it out of the car!

A lot of people stopped at the grocery store on the way back including me for ice cream... then it was back to the camp. I hung out on the grass talking to Jordan for a while until there was a workshop on public speaking. I was one of the people who talked, but I they gave me a topic that could not have been crappier: your neighbors are toasting for their 25th year anniversary. Go." Others had what animal would you be? What special powers? What would you do if you were invisible? All things I could easily rant on about for aaagesss. And I got one about stupid neighbors and toasting. They said if I varied my voice more I might sound more interesting. They liked my hand motions though hehe.

Dinner eventually happened, followed by fires etc. The usual camp stuff. This was different for me since I could not drink due to my antibiotics! Eventually the river-water wooden hot tubs were ready, so again Falc, Kristina, Floh and I went down to the water and enjoyed hot steamy water in a big wooden circle. You could see the stars when the lights were not on. When they were on, they were hung from a big tree that was covered in neckties on the bottom so that was also interesting to look at. I was in there until I was overheating and a family came in too.

It was cold-ish outside but I didn't feel it at all since my whole body was so warmed up by that hot tub! I dried and changed and sat by the fire drying my bathing suit and towel... Id' found a nice little spot near a fire under shelter to sleep at, so eventually that is where I ended up :)

Lost Roadtripping in Poland and Lithuania

I woke up still kind of tired. My body was definitely recovering, and it was supposed to be "hitchhike to Lithuania" day. I had no sleeping bag or tent still, no idea where I was going to go after, I was on antibiotics, and I was not in the mood to hitchhike another 1000km after my last/first experience.

I had come up all this way and now the idea of actually hitching to Lithuania so soon was just too much. I bailed. Floh found someone to hitch with from the other camp, so he left that afternoon and I moped around. I was going to get my haircut but my bladder was not lasting quite long enough, and I was feeling kind of dizzy. I went to lay down all sad about being lame and ended up falling asleep until 8pm!

It felt weird to be waking up at this time, so I went on the computer. Someone messaged me about going up to the camp the next morning. He had space, but would only go if someone else went too so he could afford the petrol. It was perfect! A for sure way up, and he had a spare sleeping bag, and there was a communal tent at the campsite. All of a sudden things were not so bad! It was going to be an early morning though, so I had to go back to sleep somehow.

It was tricky, but I did it. I woke up early the next morning and met Thomas. He told me his car might not make it there, but once we were out of the city stop and start nonsense the car was working just fine.

The drive out was beyond my expectations. Northern Polish countryside was so much more beautiful than I could have expected! Rolling hills, lakes, villages, tiny winding roads; serious perfect road-trip material. We were in no rush at all to get there - we stopped at villages, picked up hitchhikers, had dinner, snacks, etc.

I fell asleep a few hours after it got dark, and woke up in the village beside the campsite. Apparently it was supposed to be only 5km outside of this place. It was dark, and there were supposed to be yellow signs, but we did not see any. We drove.

We drove and drove and drove and drove.

This went on for almost two hours.

We were at our wit's end! Eventually we spent the money and went online via Thomas' Ipod thingy and looked up the directions. Even that didn't work. Then we called someone there and they gave us directions and that worked.

We rolled in 5am Germany time, 6am Lithuania time. Wow. I slept in the car.
