Budapest to Belgrade

Train attempt number 2: Success!

I woke up at nine surprisingly very refreshed and awake. I ate beans on toast and took some leftover Chinese before heading out the door. I made it to the train station 15 minutes before the train left, and found it no problem.

I found a spot and parked it for the next 8 hours. FOX was excited to be back where he was freed from! FOX was bought at a Hungarian train station, so he got to come back and marvel at his freedom :)

There was a rotating amount of people coming and going from the compartment. First a couple of women, then another couple after they left, then one woman, then one guy after she left.... They were getting on and off at the most obscure locations imaginable. Some of the stops had things that looked like bus stop things and that was it. Maybe a road with a tractor or something. It was local. This is what a typical stop might look like:

The guy that came in stayed for quite a while though, and turned out to be Serb/British. He grew up in London but didn't want to live in England so now he was trying for Serbia. We talked for ages, until he was replaced by some young Serbian guy from Novi Sad. He was super nice, and was surprised when I said I was from Canada.

He was kind enough to call my host when we were 15 minutes away from the station, so Nebojsa could come pick me up. He waited with me until he got there and then Nebojsa dropped him off down the street. We got something to eat then hung out in the kitchen for a while.

And now you are updated. Here I am sitting in the living room after a couple hours of typing. My host was out playing badminton. Just got back.

Wow, feels weird to be up to date-ish. Maybe I should start catching up on my previous trip haha!
