There are no pictures for the 4th, so I assume I was not sightseeing as much. I think it may have been raining again, but I'm not sure... I was finding places for Dubrovnik, and how to get there. I must have gone walking at some point because I have a memory of walking along the water for a while! Perhaps I was going to the post office, or buying a patch or something. Either way it was a packing day since I was going to take a bus the next afternoon and I had to walk all the way there.
I woke up in time for a little food, cleaning, last good coffee, and I was off! I had such a good time at Pascal's place; it felt a little sad to leave my happy little space there!
It was a beautiful drive along the coast, but the photos were all reflecting the window :s I went through two borders since there was a chunk of coast belonging to Bosnia, but they were quick and neither of them bothered to even stamp me. It was a decent length of time before I was to arrive in Dubrovnik, so it got dark.
The bus started smelling like gasoline fumes.
Too much like gasoline fumes. I wondered about being poisoned and made sure not to fall asleep on the bus just in case, but eventually the bus driver noticed it too, so the bus pulled over. They were looking at the engine when I got a call! I don't get phone calls too often (usually it's texts) so I was surprised - it was one of the people running the hostel (Ivica - I had talked to him on the internet cause he knew Florian) and he asked me if I was on a broken bus.
I was very surprised! I said how do you know that and he replied that he was pulled over right in front of the bus. I had said which bus I would be on, and he was coming back from a trip to Mostar with some other hostel guests! I grabbed my stuff from a confused bus driver, and escaped in the van!
It was incredible luck getting away from that hillside - could have taken forever before the bus worked again, and the gas smell was annoying. I got to the hostel and was given some food and homemade honey brandy. I struck a deal where my first night was free if I gave the mother running the hostel a massage. It sounded good to me!
I hung out in the common room for a while on the computer, until it seemed a little weird. This "couple" (two travelers that met in some city and were continuing on a now-similar route) seemed to be getting all whispery on the couch so I slept instead. I was tired anyhow, and I could sleep for ages at this point.
