I woke up around noon, but so did Gulsah so I didn't feel bad. We had a very late breakfast and I settled in a little. Gulsah was going to meet a couple friends along the seaside outside of the city center, and invited me along. I thought that sounded nice, so I did. We took a bus, the metro, and met up with one girl in the center where we caught another bus to the area we were going to. The three of us stopped in a Starbucks to use the toilet, but then ended up staying there until the other two people came and met us there.
This Starbucks was no ordinary Starbucks though. This one had two levels overlooking the river, and the deck was directly on the water. It had an excellent view! I had hot chocolate and looked at the sights. The pictures didn't really work though...
The five of us went for a walk along the water for quite a while! The bridge was lit up and changed colours every time I looked at it. After the walk we went for dinner at this funky bar type place. We drank some beer and I tried to learn some Turkish. The barmen were coming and writing words in my book to learn and I would write how to pronounce it. It was fun there, but eventually they felt like leaving so we went to Taksim for some dancing. We went to this bar on the upper level of a building and it was packed!
I had some more beer, and met some more random Turkish girls dancing and singing away. It was a good introduction to Istanbul :) One of the friends had refrained from drinking and had a car, so Gulsah and I even got a lift back to the apartment! I slept very well that night :)
