Aquariums and Afterparties

I woke up more hung over than I had for a while, I guess I was not drinking enough water before bed. Ah well. It wasn’t bedridden style hangover, I just felt icky.

The walk in the sun helped, so did a leftover greasy breakfast sandwich half. Feeling partially restored, I visited an also-tired Levi because we were supposed to go to the aquarium that day.

It took a few hours of laying down feeling blahhh before deciding to take it on. It was insanely nice out, and the walk there was along the river! I almost passed out before going in which sucked (I hate it when that happens) but I sat down and the rest of the time was excellent. I saw an albino alligator! There were jellyfish, sharks, penguins (that made me think of happy feet though so that was a bit sad), big fish, little fish…. I was very pleased!

Food came next, then more sleeeeeeeep. Tonight was the Noisition Coalition Ball.

Not sure how to explain this. I’ve mentioned marching parades before, well this is one of them – they make noise out of self-made unusual things turned into instruments, or at least altered instruments, etc. For example a washboard connected to pedals and electronic stuff to make trippy noises when brushing thimbled fingers on it.

They all wear red black and white, so it was encouraged to dress in these colours for their party. I woke up from napping, and Minka was so kind as to let me borrow some properly coloured clothes! We took off; the party was too much fun.

Here is one of the videos!! Hope it gives you an idea of what I was talking about :D

I have a couple videos of them going off on stage at one point (have to figure out how to edit these), I had met a lot of the people in this “coalition”, so it really felt like a bunch of friends all going out having fun as opposed to a “ball”. I spilled my first drink of the whole trip there – not impressed.

It ended up being a break-the-seal situation, because I ended up spilling almost three that night :s Talk about alcohol abuse.

Paul met us there (Joey was at work otherwise he’d be there too) and after some gin… we all went… yep… to Flanagan’s hahaha

At some point I ended up doing back flips over a railing by some stairs… I was bruised the next day. I remember sitting on friends’ laps instead of chairs, making out with a girl (Katie) at the bar briefly/spontaneously… losing my gin all over the ground… it was a fitting way to spend my last Saturday in New Orleans :p

Needless to say, I was over three hours late for what I was supposed to be doing the next day. I was supposed to be going to a “Naked Man Party” at two.

Don’t worry, I shall explain.

From what I was told, in order to be able to allow nudity in places it has to be designated a private club, so people made a “Country Club” at a bigggg beautful mansion house with a restaurant, big outdoor pool, big outdoor jacuzzi, and bar! You are allowed to be nude there, and it’s mostly used by the gay community. Thus naked man party.

Robin had invited a bunch of people out, almost all female, to do a sort of estrogen invasion. It was a success! By the time I got there (like I said, I was very late!! Robin and others had been there since three, I got there after five, maybe six ish) we were some of the only people there… so it was almost all us girls. Estrogen Fest! We sat in the jacuzzi, ate hamburgers, went in the pool, had a couple drinks….repeat. Probably the best way you could possibly spend a Sunday :)

Some of us ended up there until maybe ten thirty or so… Four of us girls went back to Robin’s for eating pizza and chicken wings in bed while watching Harry Potter. I partook in this until about midnight, but then had to leave. They were almost asleep anyhow, and I had promised Paul I would check out his set at the Dragon’s Den. He hadn’t spun for about two years, so it was cool to be able to show support :)

I took this while blissed out biking back to Robin's on the way to pizza, thought it was fitting:

Paul and I went to Flanagan’s briefly afterwards on the way home. Plans were made to go watch the Watchmen the next day. Over and out.
