Carrickfergus Sillyness

The next morning I met up with Michael, Robert, and Jessica and had breakfast. Michael and Gary had been talking of possibly going up to Carrickfergus at the pub the previous night... so we were figuring it out :) Michael had to work for a while, so us three foreigners (Rob and Jess are Americans)went out wandering :)

One thing I knew I had to do was use the internet... if we were going to Carrickfergus that evening/afternoon, I wanted to write the address of my Grandma's old house down and possibly find it on Google.... so we went into the McDonalds to steal internet.

The concept of taking unfinished parts food with you is not overly popular... people left half eaten sleeves of fries behind all the time! We took one one on the way out and it was still warm... weird. Wasteful.

After this we walked by a famous mural... then down to Victoria's work to drop off her keys for her, and to visit quickly :)

The botanical gardens were nearby, so we ended up going there, I sat in the grass for a while, but the next thing I knew it was time to meet Michael and Gary to go to Carrickfergus!

Now before you get toooooo excited, I must remind you that my camera battery charger was still at Anthony's, so I had no functional camera for this.

Sooooooo we got in the car and drove up the coast to Carrickfergus. It is right on the water, with a big castle! We had half an hour or 45 minutes or so before it closed, so we went in. Again sorry no photos; stupid thing was dead...

The castle was impressive! We got ice cream after and walked down a cement dock type area. After hanging out here, the GPS system in an iphone and car found my Grandma's house! It wasn't too far, so we hunted it down (getting to see more of the city too!) and Jessica took a picture for me and emailed it to me! I will get it up here soon I have been lazy with emails :s

We drove up the coast after this, which was stunning. We hadn't taken this route up to Giant's Causeway because we were running behind time-wise... so I was lucky and got to see the beautiful Northeast coast area anyhow :)

It was turning into later evening, so we headed back through the countryside...

Victoria had texted me during the day to invite me to a dinner being held at Carlene's (another CS'er) so instead of being dropped at Vic's, I was kindly dropped off at Carlene's and went straight into a dinner party!

There was an older couple surfing at Carlene's place, so there was five of us sitting around enjoying wine and hummus. The whole dinner was vegetarian and very yummy! Complete with ice cream and brandy at the end. Have to hand it to Carlene; it was such a nice change :) I was not used to drinking wine, so I went home more tipsy than anticipated, but I made toast and went to bed fine :)
